In the shade of the oaks, the Argelière garden is a little paradise in the hills of La Gaude (Alpes-Maritimes). Lysiane Offerhaus has been taking care of it for 40 years. This weekend, she opens her garden to the public. She prunes her roses and checks her terracotta signs. 1,200 plants and shrubs. A passion since childhood. “I can’t do without it. I don’t know, it feels good I think”, she says, laughing. Visitors discover a natural garden of 3,000 m2, with Mediterranean plants, but not only.
“For me, it’s a garden of love”
“It must be a hell of a job. (…) It is a wild garden which is magnificent. Looks like it grew on its own. But I don’t think”observes one of them. “A dream. For me, it’s a garden of love”, comments another. For more than 20 years, Lysiane Offerhaus has shared her passion with others and opened her garden to the public. “It makes me happy that we come to see the garden, and I see that it makes people happy to come and see the garden. So I’m continuing, I don’t know until when”she smiles.
