Interviewed by Nikos Aliagas in the magazine Gala, this Thursday, May 1, 2022, Florent Pagny revealed how he manages his fight against cancer on a daily basis. Diagnosed with an inoperable tumor in the lungs in January 2022, the coach of The Voice revealed to be very well surrounded and supported by his wife Azucena and their children Aël and Inca. Of an optimistic nature, the interpreter of the title My freedom of thought has not lost his sense of humor and confides: “I am not devastated. And so well accompanied. When I growl at homeI tell my loved ones: “It’s not my fault, it’s because I’m sick!” It makes them laugh and it passes! We debunked it all !“.
“First base to face the disease“As Nikos Aliagas points out, the family plays a major role in the balance and healing of Florent Pagny who adds with humor: “They are there, and we put it all into perspective as a family. We don’t want to get caught up in the drama. With us, we tell ourselves that there will always be solutions since there is a problem!“
This disease clarified my future
Very spiritual, Florent Pagny considers this disease as a latent malaise present in his body which had to express itself through this tumor (hence the expression “mal-a-dit”). If he was previously in the dark, this cancer has indeed given a second wind to the singer who now sees his future better. “This disease clarified my future, once I’ve finished my chemo, the sixth, I’m going to get back on my feet, enjoy life, my loved ones close to nature and that’s a chance. I will check regularly during these six months of break. Then I’ll be back.” he revealed, showing an astonishing resilience.
Relieved, the singer also confides with great hope that the heavy treatments undergone in recent months have been very effective on his disease. “The latest news I have from inside, if I can put it that way, is that the tumor has shrunk a lot, the size of a good kiwi, I went to a hazelnut after two chemos“, he had thus announced.
