It’s an astonishing dance of seduction. In the Camargue marshes, pink flamingos are looking for a partner for the season. So they contort themselves, move their heads or spread their wings. Every winter, this collective courtship parade fascinates visitors. The Pont de Gau ornithological park, in the Camargue, allows you to observe this choreography up close. The pinker the flamingo, the more successful it will be, as it is a sign of good health. So to magnify their plumage, flamingos have a trick: they cover themselves with a fat that they secrete themselves.

Every day, 2,000 flamingos from all over the Mediterranean stop here in the hope of mating before spring begins. It is the law of nature, some flamingos will remain single, all couples formed will be single for one year only, just enough time to marry and reproduce.
