Exceptional French heritage sites become the setting for extraordinary concerts, particularly popular with DJs and other music stars. Here are some important examples, on the eve of the holidays, a period conducive to this kind of musical madness.

Several internationally renowned French DJs, such as Jean-Michel Jarre, David Guetta and Michael Canitrot, will soon perform in places with exceptional heritage. A way to enhance both music and heritage.

Jean-Michel Jarre at the Palace of Versailles

Jean-Michel Jarre opens the ball, with a real and virtual show from the Hall of Mirrors of the Château de Versailles on the evening of December 25, the year of the 400th anniversary of the place. A show broadcast on French television channels (M6-W9 Group) and international television channels, on the radio (RTL) and via dedicated platforms.

JMJ is a regular at exceptional sites. The artist with 85 million albums sold had, among other highlights, celebrated the transition to the year 2000 at the foot of the pyramids of Giza in Egypt. He is a pioneer in the art of taking electro out of clubs to open up new horizons. “For concerts, from the start of my career, I wanted to break with the standard of usual venues, and today this influence is found in young actors in electronic music who act in the same way“, comments the septuagenarian artist for AFP.

Michael Canitrot, DJ of the “Monumental tour”

Michael Canitrot is one of the heirs of Jean-Michel Jarre. “He opened doors, just like Daft Punk brought another level in concert aesthetics, just like Laurent Garnier who showed the way as a globetrotter“, describes Michael Canitrot for AFP.

Her Monumental tower offers shows, both visual and audio, in iconic places, such as the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel, or lesser known, such as the Phare des Baleines on the Île de Ré. At the end of November, he put on a show on the Eiffel Tower, which will be broadcast on December 27, the centenary of the death of its creator, Gustave Eiffel. This almost one-hour show will be visible on the social networks of the Eiffel Tower and the artist, before a television broadcast on the Cstar channel. A broadcast on C8 and a replay on myCANAL will follow. “It’s an honor, a sort of achievement in my career“, rejoices the forty-year-old, who does not intend to stop there, dreaming of the Corcovado hill, in Brazil, a country where he has enjoyed great success.

David Guetta at the Château de Chambord

The Domaine national de Chambord, known worldwide for its castle, will welcome David Guetta on June 29, 2024. The fifty-year-old succeeds international stars like Sting (2022) and Imagine Dragons (2023) in this place. The 30,000 tickets for Chambord sold out in five minutes, according to its social networks. Ahead of DJ Snake and Daft Punk (separated since 2021), Guetta sits at the top of the trio of French artists, kings of exports in the 2023 ranking of Spotify, leader of the music platform market.

Guetta is also a regular at French heritage. He celebrated New Year’s Eve on December 31, 2020 with a charity concert in front of the glass pyramid of the Louvre Museum, via livestream since the threat of Covid-19 loomed. Another pyramid, after the real one, the setting for Jarre, and the futuristic one, in which Daft Punk was installed, unveiled in 2006 at the Californian Coachella festival.

DJ Snake, monumental fill

We must also add to this group, DJ Snake, the youngest, in his thirties. In 2017, the artist mixed on the roof of the Arc de Triomphe. The monument also appears on the cover of his album Carte blanche. The one who has collaborated with the biggest names in international pop (Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Cardi B and Jung Kook of BTS) is now tackling the Stade de France, site which holds the remarkable contemporary architecture label.

At the beginning of the month, DJ Snake sold out in the blink of an eye the 80,000 seats for his concert at the Stade de France, which will take place in a year and a half, on May 10, 2025. And in the process, the same evening, he will perform at an “after-party” at Bercy (Accor Arena), a 20,000-seat venue.
