Fifty years ago, on September 11, 1973, a coup d’état overthrew the government of Salvador Allende in Chile. Augusto Pinochet then took the reins of the country and established a dictatorship in a climate of terror. A look back at these events with Ricardo Peñafiel, professor of political science at UQAM.
