In Haut-Doubs, a tourist train derailed on Saturday June 4. A brake problem could be involved.

At the quay, immobilized, in La Cluse-et-Mijoux (Doubs), the Coni’fer, the small tourist train of the Jura, scared its passengers on Saturday June 4. In the middle of a ride, sudden braking violently surprised about thirty retirees, seated at the bar car. They were quickly attended to by firefighters. A total of 11 people were taken to hospital, one of them in serious condition.

“We were told that people had hit parts of the train, tables, chairs and then the walls”explains Nicolas Meyer, lieutenant-colonel in the Doubs departmental fire and rescue service. “There are many who have pain under the breasts or in the abdomen”, says a passenger. For its part, the association that owns the train did not want to speak. Has there been a brake system failure? An investigation has been opened by the police.
