Illuminated by the headlights of a car, an animal similar to a lioness is filmed by two walkers on the outskirts of a residential area near Berlin (Germany). An amateur video immediately forwarded to the police. In the process, a vast search operation on land and in the air is deployed. “At this time, we are assuming that the video is authentic. Police have also confirmed the presence of such a wild animal in the city”says Michael Grubert, mayor of Kleinmachnow (Germany).
Residents urged to stay at home
Several hours after the start of the hunt, the animal remains untraceable, so calls for vigilance are increasing and the inhabitants of south-west Berlin are asked to stay at home. The provenance of the potential fawn remains unknown, as no zoo or circus has declared an extirpation. According to the mayor of the city, if the animal is caught, it should be put to sleep as far as possible.
