A complaint for rape has been filed against NRJ star host Sébastien Cauet, already accused for several weeks of having sent messages of a sexual nature to a minor, pushing NRJ Group to “temporarily” withdraw the host of its antennas Wednesday November 22. The prosecution announced to franceinfo that it had opened an investigation into “rape of a minor over 15 years old” and “rape” after this complaint. The host, for his part, filed several complaints for harassment. Franceinfo summarizes what we know about this affair.

A complaint for two rapes filed by a young woman on Saturday

A young woman filed a complaint for two rapes against the host on Saturday November 18 with the Saint-Sébastien-Sur-Saône gendarmerie (Ain). According to the Bourg-en-Bresse public prosecutor’s office, contacted by franceinfo, the facts denounced by this woman “would have been committed between 2014, when the victim was a minor, and 2022, in Paris and Switzerland”.

A preliminary investigation was opened for “rape of a minor over 15 years old” and “rape” after the complaint filed against the host Sébastien Cauet, announced the Bourg-en-Bresse public prosecutor’s office to franceinfo on Wednesday November 22.

Accusations on social networks

The justice system does not give any details at this stage on the facts denounced, but this complainant had already implicated Sébastien Cauet on social networks as early as October 13, first anonymously then in his name a month later.

“You asked me to give you oral sex”, said the young woman when calling out the host on the social network X (formerly Twitter). She claims that the events took place in a hotel room when she was still a minor. She also publishes what she presents as screenshots of a conversation with the host. Sébastien Cauet makes very crude remarks of a sexual nature. Still on X, another woman claims to have received “word for word” the same messages and having received, without having requested it, an intimate photo of the host.

On X, the @ZoeSagan account also relays several other testimonies from women who also say they are victims of the host. They describe the behavior “humiliating” de Cauet with his teams and his attitude of “forcer and misogynist”. Another woman, who describes herself as a former receptionist at NRJ, accuses the host of harassment and says she was “trip” after having “said no”.

Several complaints filed by Cauet

Faced with this wave of accusations on social networks, the host filed two complaints last week for “harassment”, the Nanterre prosecutor’s office confirmed to franceinfo. An investigation was opened by the Brigade for the Repression of Personal Delinquency (BRDP).

Through a press release from his lawyer published Tuesday, November 21 on social networks, Sébastien Cauet affirms his intention to take legal action again for slanderous denunciation against the complainant. He believes that his accusations “serious” are “unfounded” And “strongly contests” the acts of rape with which he is accused. The host also announces that he will continue “systematically the media which publish defamatory remarks against him”.

“Sébastien Cauet is at the disposal of the justice system and the police services in whom he has complete confidence”continues his lawyer. “He will calmly provide the elements likely to demonstrate the inanity of the accusations brought against him.”

The host removed from the NRJ antenna

In a press release published on X on Wednesday, NRJ Group announces “the temporary withdrawal of his antennas from the host Sébastien Cauet”. “This temporary decision taken by mutual agreement with Sébastien Cauet is guided by the need to guarantee the serenity which must prevail in the face of legal proceedings relating to serious accusations.”

The radio group also explains having ordered “from November 17” an internal investigation conducted by an external firm, even if “no fact contrary to the group’s ethics charter or offensive to dignity had been reported”. This investigation is “ongoing”specifies NRJ Group in its press release.

For his part, the host explains, also on X, that he will not be on the air of NRJ on Wednesday. “I will not be on the air today, in agreement with NRJ”he writes, assuring “have proof of his innocence”.
