The Palestinians say they have exhumed nearly 400 bodies in the hospitals of Al-Chifa in Gaza and Nasser in Khan Younes. They claim that Israel is at the origin of these mass graves, but the Jewish state denies what it describes as “unfounded accusations”. The White House is calling for a “thorough and transparent investigation” as quickly as possible.
Hundreds of bodies were discovered buried in hospital courtyards in the Gaza Strip according to the enclave’s Civil Defense. In several videos published on social networks, we see remains exhumed, notably from mass graves dug within the grounds of the Nasser hospital in Khan Younes.
According to Civil Defense in Gaza, victims were found naked or even restrained, which would suggest war crimes which they attribute to Israel. The Jewish state formally denies these “unfounded accusations” and affirms that it was the Palestinians who buried these bodies.
Geolocation work on videos dating from last January shows that Gazans dug graves within the grounds of the Nasser hospital. A choice justified at the time by the fact that the cemeteries were then inaccessible due to the surrounding fighting.
But the Palestinians in charge of the exhumation say they are finding more bodies than they had buried in January before the February 15 Israeli raid. The UN but also the White House are now calling for an international investigation, in order to shed light on what really happened.
