After expressing its opposition to the CAP in 2019, the National Rally finally voted for its reform in 2021. Monday February 26, on the set of 19/20 info, Louis Augry, from the True or False cell, sheds light on this point.
For the second day in a row, Jordan Bardella was present at the Agricultural Show, Monday February 26. The opportunity for the True or False unit of franceinfo to take stock of the vision of the National Rally on the common agricultural policy (CAP). According to its opponents, the RN has often turned its back on this subject. “A few days ago, in the columns of Le Figaro, Gabriel Attal affirmed that ‘the RN is 0 action, but 100% weather vane since the party voted against the PAC in 2019, for 2021, and now it is new counter”, explains journalist Louis Augry.
A decisive national strategic plan
To find out if the RN has actually changed its mind over time, let’s take a look at its positions over the years. “In 2019, there was no major vote on the CAP, but at that time, the RN was clearly against it”underlines Louis Augry, who quotes the words of Jordan Bardella in the columns of Marianne the same year : “The CAP must give way to French agricultural policy, to protect national agricultural know-how and excellence”. In the meantime, the National Rally voted for the reform of the CAP in 2021, due to the presence of a notion of a national strategic plan.
“Gabriel Attal is right, they have changed their position. But the RN recognizes it today and explains that this new CAP corresponded better to what they wanted”, indicates Louis Augry. “The RN has changed its vision on the CAP, but it is ultimately in a global logic of criticism from the inside”, he concludes.
