Lower taxes by 2 billion euros by 2027. This is the announcement of Emmanuel Macron, Monday, May 15. Decreases concentrated on the middle classes, or around 20% of employees, those who earn between 1,500 and 2,500 euros net per month. The promise is simple, but the implementation could be more complicated. What are the possibilities of the Head of State? First track: reform the income tax again. Abandonment of other presidential promises
The government could be tempted to lower the rate for the second tranche, currently at 11%. Or, add an intermediate bracket to soften the entry into the tax. Another solution to increase purchasing power: increase the net salary, for example by making the activity bonus more accessible, or by reducing certain employee contributions. In a context of budgetary rigour, where the government says it is determined to go back below the 3% public deficit mark, this tax gift could lead to the abandonment of other presidential promises.
