The Minister responsible for Housing, France-Élaine Duranceau, must defend Bill 31 on Thursday, which restricts, among other things, tenants’ right to transfer a lease, during parliamentary consultations in Quebec.
In the midst of the housing crisis, tenant groups have repeatedly asked Minister Duranceau to back down on this point. They plan to hold demonstrations in the coming days. Québec solidaire, fiercely opposed to the limitation of this right, is holding a press briefing at 8 a.m., in which its deputies Étienne Grandmont and Andrés Fontecilla will participate.
