Public sector employees continue their walkout this week. The 420,000 members of the Common Front — formed by the CSN, the FTQ, the CSQ and the APTS — will continue their strike sequence started on December 8 until Thursday. This inter-union alliance stressed last Sunday that it would trigger an indefinite general strike if no agreement in principle was reached with Quebec before December 19.
For its part, the Interprofessional Health Federation of Quebec (FIQ), which brings together 80,000 nurses, practical nurses, respiratory therapists and clinical perfusionists, will walk off the job from Monday to Thursday. From Wednesday to Friday, professional staff from ten CEGEPs of the Union of Professionals of the Government of Quebec will also set up picket lines. For its part, the Autonomous Federation of Education (FAE) — which represents more than 66,500 teachers — continues its indefinite general strike which began on November 23.
