With a hotly contested by-election just days away, Bloc Québécois leader Yves-François Blanchet and a dozen of his MNAs are heading to LaSalle-Émard-Verdun on Wednesday to campaign with their candidate, Louis-Philippe Sauvé. Recent projections have him neck and neck with Liberal candidate Laura Palestini.
In an interview at Duty At a party rally in Verdun in August, Sauvé said he was hopeful he would win the September 16 election and bring down this Liberal stronghold. The riding seat has been vacant since former federal Justice Minister David Lametti left in January.
