What to watch for on Wednesday November 29, 2023?

The Autonomous Education Federation (FAE), which represents some 66,500 teachers, is today in its fifth day of strike. Members of the union meet at 7 a.m. this morning in front of the office of the Minister of Education, Bernard Drainville, in Quebec. The president of the FAE, Mélanie Hubert, will hold a press briefing at 7:30 a.m., in the press gallery of the Parliament of Quebec, to discuss the requests of the president of the Treasury Board, Sonia LeBel, related to work organization, flexibility and assignment processes.

It is also today that the president of the FTQ, Magali Picard, returns to the country. The latter caused discomfort by going to Dubai, as part of COP28, while negotiations were in full swing in Quebec. Remember that the Common Front, of which the FTQ is a part, announced yesterday that the 420,000 union members it represents will walk out from December 8 to 14. The 80,000 members of the Quebec Interprofessional Health Federation will strike from December 11 to 14.
