The NATO summit begins this Tuesday in Vilnius, Lithuania, where crucial decisions and disputes between member countries will be at the rendezvous. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who will be there, will have to position himself on important issues, such as the possible membership of Sweden and Ukraine in the organization.
The day before, Mr. Trudeau was in Latvia, where he announced that his government will inject $2.6 billion into the NATO mission in the country, enough to double its contribution. The two states signed a “road map” detailing the process that began more than a year ago, when Canada committed to increasing the size and capacity of a multinational battle group on Latvian soil.
