The Blue House

After a checkered first season, The Blue House has really found its way to go. Its delirious sequel, currently broadcast on ICI Télé after having been offered for the first time on ICI Tou.tv Extra in the spring of 2021, makes us laugh out loud with each episode. The actors obviously have something to do with it. The pleasure with which they bite into every line by authors Ricardo Trogi and Daniel Savoie is contagious.

The invisible children

What happens to children who live with a mentally ill parent? Not much, points out the documentary series The invisible children. Hosted by Varda Étienne, the show lifts the veil on the reality of these forgotten people who suffer in the blind spot of the health system.

From Peter to daughter

Radio-Canada offers From Peter to daughter, the very first work, as a screenwriter, of actress Julianne Côté. This intelligent comedy recounts the singular and close bond between an unambitious restaurant waitress (Julianne Côté) and her cultivated and open-minded single father (Patrice Robitaille). A very simple subject, exploited with spirit, vivacity and sarcasm by Julianne Côté, who writes dense dialogues and filled with references to popular culture.

Melancholitis

Dyear Melancholitis, Bruno Blanchet travels through Quebec, a bit like Terry Fox, in search of testimonies of love for his friend Guy Jodoin. But he will be thwarted in his plans by the people he made fun of, and his characters who resent him for being abandoned, a group of angry people led by none other than Anne-Marie Losique. I have no idea where this story will take us, but I was hilarious.

That’s how I love you, season 2

This second chapter of That’s how I love you, imagined by François Létourneau, does not disappoint the fans. The intelligent writing of François Létourneau, capable of childish gags as much as finesse and sensitivity, is similar to that of the Coen brothers (Fargo, The Big Lebowski), but funnier. Really, François Létourneau, supported by directors Jean-François Rivard and Robin Aubert, makes great, great quality television.

The little kings

Discover the world of two best friends, Julep (Pier-Gabriel Lajoie) and Adaboy (Alex Godbout), at the top of the social pyramid at Queen Isabella College. But the golden lives of these two young adults – and their clique – take a disturbing turn when they start receiving threatening text messages. You don’t become so popular without making enemies. For fans of Riverdale, Elite and pretty Little Liars.

Free exchange

We weren’t convinced after one episode, but after four, we understand better why KOTV (Between two sheets) wanted to use this British format signed by Nick Hornby (About a Boy, Wild). Well chiseled, the dialogues are sometimes funny, sometimes incisive, and always intelligent. The adaptation work is also successful. The 10-minute episodes feature Louis Morrissette and Marie-Claude Guérin.
