The LR deputy for the Alpes-Maritimes Eric Ciotti was the guest of the 8:30 a.m. france info Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Mid-term in the United States, alliance with the RN and reception of migrants… He answered questions from Salhia Brakhlia and Marc Fauvelle.

Midterm elections in the United States: “There is not everything to reject” at Donald Trump

The Americans must designate a large part of their representatives in Congress on Tuesday. Eric Ciotti has chosen his side: “I am a Republican”, decides the deputy for the 1st constituency of the Alpes-Maritimes, and adds that Donald Trump “is not a model”but that“there is not everything to reject: on lowering taxes, on what he did about Korea… Afterwards, I reject his contestation of the elections and this kind of conspiracy”.

An alliance with the RN? : “The line I hold is independence from power, from the National Rally”

The election of Jordan Bardella at the head of the National Rally does not change anything for Éric Ciotti. “We have convictions, positions that are naturally different. […] The line that I hold is a line of independence: independence from power, independence from the National Rally”. […] We are the only ones to precisely offer an alternative between failure and Macronian impotence and the Mélenchon-Le Pen debate. It is this third way that I want to propose to the French at the head of the Republicans”. Eric Ciotti refuses any alliance, “It would be allying with people who want us to disappear.”

Reception of migrants stranded in the Mediterranean Sea: “France should not welcome them”

Éric Ciotti condemns the remarks made by the deputy (RN) Grégoire de Fournas: “Racism, the suspicion of racism, has no place in the hemicycle of the National Assembly”. But concerning the migrants stuck on the Ocean Viking boat, the deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes is intransigent: “France should not welcome them. I say it clearly: these boats must dock at the port of departure, in Libya or Tunisia”. That they go back to Africa? “Yes! yes! Absolutely. If we have this attitude, we will put a very important end to the smuggling business”.
