OrelSan triumphed on Friday at the 37th Victoires de la Musique organized on Friday February 11 at the musical Seine, by winning three trophies in the queen categories: those of the Male Artist of the Year, the Song of the Year and the Creation audiovisual. Clara Luciani received two Victories, those of the Female Artist of the Year, an award she had already won in 2020, and that of the Album of the Year.
If it has not been punctuated by any real outburst or rant, thehe evening was particularly rich in stage performances, almost all of the nominees performing at least one song on stage. Only the rapper SCH, who received the Victory for the most streamed male album, kindly wanted to set the record straight by pointing out that his “colleagues” Gazo, Oboy, Naps, Laylow, JuL, Dinos, Soso Maness and Nino,”would have deserved just as much as the artists here present“to be at the Victories.
Stromae plays with his avatar
It was Stromae, honorary president of this edition, who opened the ball, interpreting his title Health along with an avatar. This animated double, projected on the screens behind him, invited the public to dance by imitating the gestures of his choreography. While his highly anticipated new album Multitude is announced for March 4, this avatar gave a little taste of the launch of his tour, which should call, it is said, on new technologies. A tour after seven years of absence from the stages which begins on February 22 in Brussels and passes through Paris on February 24.

For OrelSan, the party continues
OrelSan, author of Civilization, the best-selling album in France in 2021 (released on November 19, 2021, it has just passed the 400,000 sales mark), received the first Victory of the evening, that of Audiovisual Creation, for the documentary series Never show this to anyone, co-directed by his brother Clément Cotentin. The latter, who followed the rapper with his camera for 20 years, not losing a crumb of his rise, offers us a joyful dive into his intimacy.
The Norman rapper then received the Artist of the Year award from the hands of his friend Stromae. “Among French-speaking musicians, he is one of those who writes the best, he really digs, he goes far“, had greeted Friday morning, on France Inter, Stromae. After having interpreted The smell of gasoline, an explosive political title that criticizes arsonist leaders and prophesies the “crash” of society, the rapper obtained his third Victory of the evening, that of the Song of the Year for this same song. On stage, he thanked his composers Skread and Phazz, and visibly unprepared, assured “I’ll plan some jokes next time.” His three new statuettes are added to the seven others he had already accumulated since 2013.

Clara Luciani in a nightclub
Just like OrelSan, the coronation of Clara Luciani, who made France dance all summer long with the hits from her second album Heart, was expected. The singer raised two major Victories on Friday, that of the Artist of the year, which she had already obtained in 2020, and that of the Album of the year. The 29-year-old artist, who has met with great public and critical success, performed Where are the women ? in tribute to Patrick Juvet, who died on April 1, 2021, but also his hit Breathe again in a nightclub setting, in the middle of a crowd of dancers under the disco ball, a nod to clubs that have long remained closed due to the pandemic. On receiving her second Victory of the evening, she revealed that the dancers were all her friends, and thanked Sage, her regular composer for years. “I was carried by so much love tonight, thank you for believing in me and making me live this incredible dream“, she launched, visibly moved.
It has to move, it has to tremble, it has to sweat again!

Dutronc and Dutronc pay for their tour
Jacques Dutronc, 78, received Friday evening from the hands of his son Thomas Dutronc a Victory of Honor. The latter paid a touching tribute to his father, a caustic former singer Yéyé, retired to Corsica and discreet for many years. “I can’t tell my father this hero, he’s not a firefighter. But I can tell my father this number“, he said, listing the dozens of hits by Jacques Dutronc in the 1960s, The Plays-Boys, I like girls, It is five o’clock Where Cacti. “Even the president at the time, who was not a camembert, he was Pompidou, had spoken about your Cactus in the National Assembly. I even believe that you had sung in your underwear in front of him. Everyone at the ‘Élysée was shocked, but not him: he had a sense of humour,’ said Thomas while his father confirmed the look from the room.
“Johnny Depp calls you the first real punk, I like that. (…) In rock, you’re still the boss“, said the son again. “I’m proud of you, proud to be your son and so happy to be touring with you soon. I know we’re going to have fun because your music rocks and people love you very very much, and mom and I love you even more“, he concluded before calling his father to come up and get “the thing“. Thomas on the guitar and Jacques on the microphone, the two then interpreted And me and me and me, a 1966 hit that hasn’t aged any more than its performer, eternally classy and mocking behind her smoked glasses. While he has not been on stage since 2017 and the Vieilles Canailles tour, Jacques Dutronc is preparing to go on tour for the first time with his son in a recital called Dutronc & Dutronc. This show will start in April, with in particular two dates at the Casino de Paris, a passage at the Printemps de Bourges, before skimming the summer festivals.
