Emmanuel Macron warns Benjamin Netanyahu of “his firm opposition” to an offensive on Rafah

French President Emmanuel Macron raised his voice towards Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, once again marking “his firm opposition” to an Israeli offensive on Rafah and warning that “the forced transfer of population constituted a war crime”.

During a telephone interview with Benjamin Netanyahu, the French leader also condemned “firmly rejects recent Israeli announcements regarding colonization”, indicated the Elysée in a press release. Israel announced on Friday the seizure of 800 hectares of land in the occupied West Bank.

He also announced his intention to bring to the UN Security Council a draft resolution to call for “an immediate and lasting ceasefire” in Gaza. Moscow and Beijing opposed a similar resolution proposal from Washington on Friday, denouncing in particular a text “hypocritical”.

Two new Gazan hospitals under siege by the Israeli army, according to the Red Crescent

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported two new hospitals under siege in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli army, which has been carrying out a similar operation for about a week in the main hospital center in the north of the Palestinian territory.

According to the Red Crescent, military vehicles arrived on Sunday morning near the Nasser and al-Amal hospitals, in the town of Khan Younes, in the south of the territory, against a backdrop of shooting and bombardment “intense”.

The army announces that its “Troops are operating throughout the al-Amal area, they are not currently operating in hospitals.” The Israeli army claims to have launched an operation in the al-Amal neighborhood “with a view to continuing to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and eliminate terrorist actors in the sector.”

Bombings on Gaza continue

Israeli bombings and fighting between Israel and Hamas continue to rage in Gaza, while negotiations on a truce show no signs of progress despite increased pressure from the United States.

In total, 84 people were killed in these bombings in 24 hours, notably in Gaza City (north) and those of Khan Younes and Rafah (south), bringing the total Palestinian death toll to 32,226, announced the ministry of Hamas Health.

In this context, a new vote on a new draft resolution demanding a ceasefire “immediate”prepared by eight of the ten non-permanent members of the Council, is scheduled for Monday at the UN.

Three dead in Israeli strikes in eastern Lebanon

A Syrian was killed in an Israeli air raid in eastern Lebanon, a Hezbollah stronghold, according to the National News Agency (ANI). The man died after being seriously injured in an attack on his vehicle in Souairi, ANI said, adding that he was delivering food and that the car belonged to the owner of a supermarket.

Hezbollah also announced the death of two of its fighters in strikes by Israel, which it accused of seeking to “expand your attacks”.

Since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas in October, the Lebanese Islamist movement Hezbollah exchanges daily fire with Israel on the Israeli-Lebanese border, in support of its Palestinian ally in the Gaza Strip. For several weeks, Israel has been launching air raids deeper and deeper into Lebanese territory against Hezbollah positions, accentuating the threats of open war.
