On a visit to the Salut Bonjour program, the chronicler of the Car Guide Antoine Joubert explains the elements to look at and think about before getting a “minoune”.
“For me, a minoune is a car that is between 10 and 12 years old which is still in reasonable condition and which has perhaps between 150,000 and 250,000 kilometres”, he specifies. The expert adds that the prices of vehicles are exploding and believes that people must redirect their budget accordingly.
“You should know that when buying a minoune, you have to consider everything that comes with it, such as the costs or the maintenance costs of the tires”, he continues. Insurance and registration are also to be considered.
So what to watch?
“The first thing is the bodywork and the structure. This is what costs the most to repair or it is what – sometimes – can no longer be repaired”, warns Antoine.
In this sense, it is important to observe if there are traces of corrosion on the bodywork, the fenders, the inside of the doors and so on. Afterwards, the columnist recommends trying out the mechanics — to see how well they perform — the accessories (air conditioning, audio system) and even the turn signals.
Watch the capsule at the top of this article for more details on this subject. In addition, Antoine will briefly discuss his trip from Montreal to Quebec in a Chevrolet Bolt EV when the temperature was -20 degrees.
