The opera L’Isola Disabitata by Joseph Haydn can be seen at the Auditorium of Dijon

A sober and concentrated celebration of love. A quartet of voices of rich simplicity, singing the joys of reunion and those of first times. The omnipresent orchestra bathes the shore of this deserted island in a clarity heralding romanticism.

On a lost island in the South Seas, a young castaway has been moping for thirteen years alongside her younger sister. And nothing like an island to conduct social or sentimental experiences, away from the influences of the rest of the world. Costanza, the aptly named, despairs of never seeing her husband again: she is convinced that he has abandoned her, and has drawn the conclusion that all men are monsters. Already, she is carving her will on a rock… Silvia was too young to remember her previous life: life in the middle of nature is enough for her joy. When Gernando finally arrives, accompanied by his friend Enrico, he doesn’t know if Costanza survived. And Enrico is unaware that Silvia knows neither men, nor love… In fourteen short scenes, Haydn alternates the voices of these hearts which seek each other, and concludes their quest with a superb final quartet. – Musical direction Leonardo Garcia Alarcon, project by Fanny and Alexander. – Opera performances Isola Disabitata Saturday November 27 at 8 p.m. and Sunday November 28 at 3 p.m. at the Auditorium in Dijon – Duration 1h15.
