What to do in a peaceful country?

For several days, we have been panicking over all these acts of incredible violence taking place in the Middle East. All of a sudden, the Russia-Ukraine conflict is relegated to mothballs like many other tragedies. What is happening in Syria? In Sudan?

We watch the news broadcasts. It’s impossible not to close our eyes to this carnage. And our ears ringing because of all this sometimes contradictory expertise. When it is not the warning shots that come out of the mouths of people whose role is to decide for their people. Does this necessarily imply wisdom?

What to do when you live in a peaceful country? Open our wallet to donate to humanitarian organizations? How many of us are currently succumbing to inflation? It’s still less worse than bombs. The demonstrations? An outlet. However, it can turn sour if we forget that freedom of speech can be exercised by people who think differently from us. Why not a gigantic one? bed-in ? But how can we attract attention if none of the bodies dressed in the immaculate pajamas enjoy the fame of John and Yoko? Prayer then? We will be told that if Marx perceived religion as “the opium of the people”, others see it only as a trigger for murderous madness.

Is it still allowed to dream? What if we used weapons in another way? By wielding a simple knife, we could tear to shreds the despair that poisons many of our fellow human beings. With batons, we could weaken the intolerance to which so many people around the world are victims. At the wheel of a ram truck, we could crush the narrow-mindedness responsible for the stigmatization of many of us. With a gun, we could shoot down fanaticism. With a machine gun in your hands, you could destroy indifference towards the suffering of others.

Imagine a flower that grows in the heart of a human being as soon as hatred arises…
