National union, coalition, text-by-text alliance… Emmanuel Macron continued on Wednesday, June 22, the consultations of the leaders of the various political parties to get out of the political crisis and avoid blockages.
It’s been three days, Wednesday June 22, that Emmanuel Macron has not shown himself. Behind the walls of the Élysée, the Head of State receives the leaders of the various political parties in order to break the impasse and prevent blockages. But what are the solutions to avoid paralysis in the National Assembly and to pass its reforms? The first track is the formation of a government of national unity, which would include all political parties. An idea rejected by La France insoumise and the National Rally.
Another track: a coalition, which would make it possible to obtain an absolute majority thanks to a government agreement made with one or two additional parties. Edouard Philippe is campaigning in particular for this solution. “If we don’t want to allow political instability to flourish which, in my opinion, is dangerous for the country, I believe that we must draw up this program, this minimal agreement”, said the former prime minister and chairman of the Horizons party. But the Republicans, like the Socialists, refuse any alliance. The last possibility, which is also the most probable at this stage, is the organization of à la carte votes. On a case-by-case basis, the government will have to convince dozens of deputies to obtain a majority. Ecologists, like most parties, favor this line, namely the constructive opposition.
