what should we expect from Stromae, named honorary president?

The organizers of the Victoires de la Musique, whose next ceremony is scheduled for Friday, February 11, revealed on Wednesday the name of the honorary president of this 37th edition: it will be Stromae, whose new album, Multitudeannounced for March 4, is one of the most anticipated of the year.

The ceremony of the 37th Victoires de la Musique, for which OrelSan and Clara Luciani are at the top of the nominations, will take place on February 11 at La Seine Musicale, in the Paris region. Presented by Olivier Minne and Laury Thilleman, it will be broadcast live on France 2 and France Inter from 9:10 p.m.

At the beginning of January, the Belgian artist had created the event by interpreting his second single in full news at 8 p.m. on TF1 hellwhich evokes “suicidal thoughts” while Stromae suffered from a burnout at the end of his last tour in 2015. This moment of staged television had been praised as much as criticized for its mixture of genres between information and marketing.

As honorary president of Les Victoires, Stromae succeeds Jean-Louis Aubert. Last year, the latter had the honor of opening the ball by performing a song (Another world of his former group Telephone) followed by a five-minute long speech.

We can therefore hope that Stromae will interpret a title on this occasion and deliver one of the superb choreographed performances of which he has the secret, like the one offered in December for the single Healthto Tonight Show by Jimmy Fallon.

The last time the “maestro” appeared at the Victoires de la Musique was in 2015. That year, he won the trophy in the concert of the year category for his tour Square root and had performed Carmen (video below). The previous year, he had won three Victories, including that of Male Performer of the Year.

Stromae is starting a new tour this month which notably passes through Paris (Bercy) on February 24, with a double stop in April at the prestigious Californian festival of Coachella and in many French festivals this summer.
