what should we expect from Emmanuel Macron’s speech?

This will be his second speech in a month, after the interview given to the 13 Hours newspaper. Emmanuel Macron will speak Monday, April 17 at 8 p.m. in front of the French, in a televised address. “I don’t expect much from it, the whole process that took place, it’s very hard to go back on it”comments a man, on a Parisian market. “There is an ocean between him and the people”, judge on his side a woman. Others, like in Lille (North), hope that the word will be appeased. “I want peace to return, and people to talk to each other”says a passerby.

For the president, the major challenge is to renew the dialogue with the French. After three months of social conflict, the link is broken for the opposition. “The President of the Republic, normally he is the guarantor of the unity of the Nation. (…) and there, today (…) he divides, he smashes, angers the majority of the population”, believes Clémentine Autain, LFI / NUPES deputy for Seine-Saint-Denis. The presidential camp wants to believe in the possibility of relaunching the five-year term.
