Together, they were one of the flagship couples of the 90s, and had a publicized relationship for five years, between 1995 and 2000. While their songs were at the top of the charts, Ophélie Winter and MC Solaar loved each other, until they no longer love each other. And 20 years later, the singer has forgotten nothing. This March 5, 2024, on the occasion of her ex’s birthday, she shared a tender statement with him on Instagram.
“I’m super happy that you’re going back on tour“
She wrote, under a photo of them taken at the Cannes Film Festival in 1998: “Happy birthday my sheumeufleu MC Solaar!!! We were young there!!!” And to add, regarding his big comeback: “I’m super happy that you’re going on tour again, it’s going to be great!!!!” And while she still lives in Réunion, she also predicted, for his concerts across the metropolis (in English): “All the best for this upcoming tour, and happy happy birthday again!!! Love always. O”.
In his autobiography entitled “Resilience”and released in June 2021, Ophélie Winter also had words of great tenderness for the rapper from “Caroline“She remembered a man.”gentle and erudite“, for whom she had had”a Hollywood version of love at first sight.” And to add: “I had never before experienced such an exhilarating, fusional, tortured story, with a man I considered my soul mate. Unlike Prince, he was of my generation and did not pose as a mentor. Our relationship was equal.”

With him, she also said: “I experienced a relationship with him of all extremes“. To the point where “By wanting to make it last at all costs, we destroyed each other.” A heartbreak for the one who admits:“However, I was ready to settle down. I took seriously this love which constantly occupied me, and from which I could no longer detach myself.”
Fortunately, despite “the arguments, the lies and the outbursts of anger”, Ophélaï admits today “It’s a miracle that our love has evolved into such a beautiful friendship over time.”
