Three years ago, the rise fuel prices had sets off anger that no one had seen coming. The yellow vests have occupied the roundabouts for months. Today, they are rare to still mobilize. What remains of this revolt in 2021?

Three years after the start of the yellow vests movement, only a few die-hards remain on the roundabouts. Where is this movement, which had gathered hundreds of thousands of people? Millau (Aveyron) is one of the emblematic places of the mobilization that began on November 17, 2018. On one of the city’s roundabouts, they are now only a handful. Listening to them, nothing has changed. “Three years already, and always the same fight, we do not know if we will have something or not at the end”, confides a protester.

Also in Montpellier (Hérault), around ten yellow vests always come together on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Among them is Richard Abauzit, retired. The latter recognizes it: it is not easy to continue this movement. “It’s hard to stand on a roundabout for example, for three years, without seeing the outcome of what we rose up to”, he confides.
