Does France have the means to fight against the fires, which multiply during the summer? The journalist Caroline Motte, present on the 19/20 set, Tuesday July 19, provides some answers.
The fires strongly affect France, Tuesday, July 19. The firefighters are on a war footing and can count on air support. “Today there are 12 Canadairs, six water bomber planes called Dash, they are the ones who send the retardant product to channel the fires, and there are also Beechcraft planes. These do not send water, they are responsible for coordinating operations”details the journalist Caroline Motte. The latter are three in number in France.
“The problem (…) is that this fleet, it is based in Nîmes (gard) in the Southeast, because it is traditionally there that forest fires and fires occur most often”says Caroline Motte. Other bases that are used to supply the air fleet, called “pelicandromas”were born in France to better distribute the intervention forces throughout the territory. “This is where planes can come and refill with water. (…) There are 22 in France”describes Caroline Motte.
