The word of the day is “gender gap”. This is the gender differential in voting intentions, explains columnist Michel Mompontet.

“There is going to be an outbreak of divorces in the United States”launches editorialist Michel Mompontet. Indeed, the voting difference between men and women has never been greater. Thus, among men, 52% plan to vote for Donald Trump, 40% for Kamala Harris, and 8% did not respond. Among women, 58% say they will vote for Kamala Harris, 37% for Donald Trump, and 5% are unsure.

And Michel Mompontet continues: “You should know that women traditionally vote Democratic, if they are black, 90% vote Democratic. Also, they have been to university more than boys (…) The more education we have, the less we vote for Donald Trump.” One of the main themes that explains this gap between the male and female vote is the right to abortion: “It’s a central issue, which is very powerful in the American electorate, and especially the female electorate.”
