“Activists, opponents, human rights defenders and journalists are hunted down and fought; it is the return of the gulags. Any protest is violently repressed,” said France-Isabelle Langlois, Executive Director of Amnesty International Canada.

“Repression in Russia has no limits,” says Ms. Langlois. Demonstrators of all ages, including some under the age of 18, are arrested by the armed forces.

Ms. Langlois confirms, however, that all those imprisoned will eventually be released.

“We will above all make them languish for a very long time. They will not have the right to see a lawyer, and we will humiliate them, bully them as much as possible, ”continues France-Isabelle Langlois.

The Director General considers that the international economic sanctions against Russia are not sufficient.

“We must not remain indifferent. We have little power, but we have the power to demonstrate our indignation and our solidarity, and to put pressure on our government to be more firm,” recalls Ms. Langlois.

Demonstrators all over the globe are also protesting against the invading Russian army.
