Since 2003, Whit Monday has been worked on by some employees. It is now a day of solidarity. What about?

Enjoying the good weather over a three-day weekend, or working on Whit Monday? As every year, the question arises for employees with this day of solidarity. Created following the 2003 heat wave, this is an extra day of work. Employees do not receive any remuneration, but employers must pay 0.3% of their payroll to the national solidarity fund for autonomy. The goal : finance actions in favor of retired and disabled people.

Take a day off

This device is well accepted. “We would prefer to stay at home, now if it’s going to the third age, why not”assured a man in 2019. In 2004, the government chose Pentecost to establish this day of solidarity. In 2008, this day becomes a holiday again. Since then, it is up to companies to choose when they set up this system, which remains mandatory. For the employees concerned, the choice is between coming to work or taking a day off.
