In the midst of controversy over the gigantic remuneration of Stellantis boss Carlos Tavares, the Michelin group announced this week the establishment of a “decent” salary and a “universal social protection base” for its 132,000 employees in the world. Announcement effect assured, but what about the substance?
Can this salary, supposed to allow each employee to provide for the essential needs of a family according to United Nations criteria, make it possible to reconnect with the French social contract?
