Commemorations are in full swing in Normandy, Thursday June 6 for the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Traveling to Utah Beach for the occasion, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal is the guest of “4 Truths”.

On June 6, 1944, American troops landed on the beaches of Normandy with the aim of retaking the port of Cherbourg and beginning the Liberation of France. Traveling for the commemorations of the 80th anniversary of the Landings at Utah Beach, Prime Minister Gabriel Attal salutes the courage of the young soldiers. “It makes me humble, the courage of these young people aged 18-20 who arrived in a country that was not theirs for an ideal that was theirs”.

An ideal of freedom today summoned by the head of government in a context of strong political instability and the return of war in Europe. “What has prevented the worst from returning to France for all these years is Europe,” believes Gabriel Attal. A few days before the European elections on June 9, the Prime Minister assures that the European Union and international cooperation remain essential to maintain peace. “When we withdraw into ourselves, we are more fragile”he judges.

From Utah Beach, the Prime Minister also spoke about the war on Ukrainian soil. “We will continue to stand with the Ukrainians“, he insists, even if the sending of French troops to Ukraine is excluded by the Prime Minister. “There is no such project.”

However, French instructors could be sent to Ukrainian soil to train and train Volodymyr Zelensky’s soldiers. Instructors that Russia has not ruled out hitting. “It is Russia which is responsible for cyberattacks, destabilization, interference on our soil (…) it is Russia which is in the escalation”condemns Gabriel Attal.
