Laughter is something very visceral.
So spoke Guillaume Douet, osteopath by trade, and great lover of fun.
Visceral? Many muscles are used : the cheeks and the face, tongue and mouth included, but also the belly and the diaphragm. The deep muscles are therefore solicited and after having been intensely tense, when they relax it is the moment when everything relaxes again and this leaves a gentle feeling of pleasant fatigue.
So much for the mechanical aspect but there is also the biological aspect.
When we laugh, our body produces dopamine and endorphins.
Dopamine: the hormone considered as the hormone of immediate pleasure, of reward, therefore immediately you feel calm.
Endorphin: has a anxiolytic action. If you laugh daily, thanks to the plasticity of the brain, it will affect everything else: your mood, your sociability…
So much so that daily laughter will lower the pain threshold by 10%.
So don’t miss a single opportunity to have a good laugh!
