The government has made its final decision on immunizing children between the ages of five and eleven. As of December 15, the 360,000 children at risk will be able to receive their dose. If the subject is debated, it is up to the High Authority for Health that will make the final decision whether or not to generalize the vaccine for this age group.

Since the start of the epidemic, the incidence rate has skyrocketed. On 100,000 inhabitants, 917 positive cases are to be deplored in children from six to ten years old, against 411 all ages combined. Parents of students in a school in Antibes (Alpes-Maritimes) are divided on the possible vaccination of their children. Some are frightened by this provision, while others see it as a real way out of the epidemic.

A Pfizer pediatric vaccine would be used for children aged five to eleven, who will receive a dose of 10 micrograms versus one of 30 given to adults. In Canada, the United States, Israel, or China, several children have already been vaccinated. The High Authority for Health has given the green light to vaccinate the 360,000 children with co-morbidities. However, several health professionals believe that the generalization of the vaccine to all children would keep schools open. In the event of a positive response from the High Authority for Health, the vaccinations should begin on December 20.
