Thursday July 7, the government announced a series of measures aimed at helping students, whose images of social distress had struck during the health crisis.

Upgraded scholarships, exceptional back-to-school aid, or even food aid: the executive’s measures, announced Thursday, July 7, are intended to affect the greatest number of students. More than half of them would be affected by at least one of the aid unveiled by the government. The one-euro meal in university restaurants, which was due to end this summer, has been extended for a year. Set up at the beginning of 2021 to deal with the health crisis, this system has enabled the distribution of nearly 32 million meals.

Grants based on social criteria will be increased by 4%. Depending on income, the increase for the start of the 2022 school year will be between 41 and 229 euros. Finally, an exceptional aid of 100 euros is planned for precarious students. These announcements complement other measures already in place, such as the freezing of registration fees and the rents of university residences.
