The “aging well” plan, supported by the presidential majority, proposes in particular to fight against the isolation of the elderly.
The first part of the “aging well” plan is to prevent the loss of autonomy of elderly people. The text provides in particular for the creation of a national autonomy conference to develop a prevention policy. At the department level, a single contact person for home support must be created.
Better collect reports of acts of mistreatment
A new alert system must be created to collect reports of acts of mistreatment, study them, and bring the matter to justice if necessary. Concerning isolation, the plan plans to facilitate the identification of isolated elderly people by social and health services. The families of the residentsdents in nursing homes could also see the right to visit their loved ones enshrined in law. The suspension of these meetings during the Covid-19 crisis was experienced as a trauma for the families.
