“Hi, it’s Leo, what does it say?”

This Monday, July 1, the National Rally and its allies clearly came out on top in the first round of the legislative elections with 33% of the votes, compared to 28% for the New Popular Front and 20% for Emmanuel Macron’s camp. With more than 300 possible triangulars, the projections for seats in the National Assembly are uncertain, even if Jordan Bardella (RN) is best placed to become the next Prime Minister of France.

The union of the left is therefore calling for a Republican barrier to prevent this. The NFP has committed to withdrawing its third-place candidates when the RN is in first position. Not sure that Emmanuel Macron’s troops will return the favor, while some leaders are calling for “neither RN nor LFI”.

It is in this context that the French football team will try to make the French think of something else this Monday evening, from 6:00 p.m. The Blues face Belgium in the round of 16 of Euro 2024.
