“Hi it’s Sarah, what does it say?”

This Thursday, May 30, pharmacists are on strike for the first time since 2014. The profession is demanding salary increases and wants to raise awareness about drug shortages and pharmacy closures: 2,000 pharmacies have gone out of business in 10 years, and 36 just since the start of 2024, according to the unions.

The parliamentary information mission set up after the death of Nahel, in June 2023, submitted its report this Tuesday. One of the two deputies who led it considers that the 2017 law, which specifies in which case a police officer can open fire when refusing to comply, must be modified. This text allows the police to shoot at the occupants of a vehicle “likely to perpetrate, in their flight, attacks on their life or physical integrity or that of others”. Roger Vicot, elected from the North, wants to remove the word “susceptible” to return to a notion of “imminent and immediate” danger.

At Roland Garros, several players complained about the behavior of the public, such as the Belgian David Goffin, who said he was insulted during his match against the French Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and received chewing gum. After a complicated match against Naomi Osaka, the world number one, the Polish Iga Swiatek, also asked the public not to shout during the exchanges.
