“Hi, it’s Leo, what does it say?”
This Saturday, August 10, is a crazy day for French team sports. The French volleyball, handball and basketball teams are in the finals of their Olympic tournaments. At 9:30 p.m., the men’s basketball team will have a tough time against the United States. Their women’s counterparts will also face the Americans on Sunday.
On Friday, the French football team was beaten in the final by Spain (5-3, after extra time). “It’s the first time in my life that I’m happy after losing a final,” reacted coach Thierry Henry. It’s only the second medal won by France in an Olympic football tournament, 40 years after the gold in 1984.
In table tennis, France achieved an unprecedented performance by winning a second medal, still bronze, in the same edition of the Olympic Games.
And then, after the victory of the Ethiopian Tamirat Tola this Saturday in the marathon, 40,000 people will take the start of the “marathon for all” at 9 p.m. This is the first time that the Olympic course is open to amateurs.
