A year after its launch, the Ciivise (Independent Commission on Incest and Sexual Violence Against Children) calls on the government and parliamentarians to adopt emergency measures against sexual violence. “What costs society is the impunity of the aggressors. We still underestimate the extent of this violence”explains Édouard Durand, judge and co-president of the Ciivise.

“5.5 million adults in France were victims of sexual violence in their childhood”, he said again. “There must be national solidarity for the attention of victims and families. We must allow them to benefit from a course of specialized care”, explains Édouard Durand, testimonies of families of victims in support. Families who sometimes have difficulty paying for this care.

“You need a budget. You have to give resources to the police, gendarmes, social workers, doctors, school nurses, magistrates. If the State had taken the measure of the problem, the Ciivise would not exist.”

“We also want to create a unit for professionals, so that they are supported in the event of the discovery of cases of child victims of violence. They will find advisers to help them write a report because doing this kind of discovery generates intense stress. And if we want professionals to be in a protective practice, we must support them”ends Édouard Durand.
