Something new in the renovation sector… The government intends to simplify and give more resources to the MaPrimeRénov’ system. Thus, the support service for the most modest households – the MonAccompagnateurRénov scheme – will be fully covered. The aid for this support service for individuals from A to Z by specialists will thus increase from 1,200 to 2,000 euros. The new envelope is also intended to accelerate the replacement of fossil boilers that use fuel oil and gas.

On this point, a consultation with elected officials and professionals was launched at the beginning of June to accelerate the decarbonization of heating means in the building, but far too late, say the professionals. The idea is to prohibit the installation of new gas boilers and to remove a quarter of those installed by 2030 in favor of heat pumps.

According to statistics from the Center for Economic Studies and Research on Energy (Ceren), just over eleven million main residences used natural gas and liquefied petroleum for heating in France in 2021. 2.7 million were heated with domestic oil. You should know that the housing sector today weighs 48 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent, 64% of building emissions and 11% of France’s total CO2 emissions.

Households ready to follow?

The obstacles are still numerous, mainly technical and financial. Even when a household benefits from MaPrimRénov, the rest to be paid for the works is significant. Difficult to pay with the current problems of purchasing power and inflation. The materials and raw materials remain expensive, the estimates are very high. It is even difficult to find available craftsmen.

Many projects are therefore postponed or simply not started. And then the acceleration desired by the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, causes difficulties for households which are in the process of or have recently changed their installations. So the aids are there, but the practical application does not follow. The latest MaPrimRénov allocation figures are not yet known, but they could well suffer the effects of all these hazards.
