Except in rare constituencies which elected their deputies in the first round, voters will have to return to the polls, Sunday, June 19, for the second round of the legislative elections. At the end of the first round, Sunday June 12, the suspense remains while the presidential coalition is not guaranteed to keep its absolute majority, faced with the breakthrough of the Nupes, the maintenance of the Republican right and the progress of the National rally. While the situations are diverse and varied from one constituency to another, the main parties preferred not to give national voting instructions.

La République en Marche told AFP that the presidential party would not give national instructions. LREM will speak instead “case by case” in the constituencies where candidates from the National Rally and Nupes will be opposed in the second round.
“We will not support any RN candidate”defends the party of Emmanuel Macron, adding that “some Nupes candidates are extreme”. For La République en Marche, therefore, “it will be according to the personality of the Nupes who is qualified, in particular if it is someone who has the values of the Republic”.
“Everyone will appreciate in his constituency what his duty is”for his part reacted Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of Nupes.“We have no doubts about the intelligence of our people, nor any reservations about the decision that they will ultimately make regarding the composition of the National Assembly”he said in the early evening, asking voters to “surge” at the ballot box.
Similarly, Marine Le Pen did not give voting instructions in the constituencies in which the National Rally does not appear in the second round. In the event of a duel between Nupes and the presidential majority, Marine Le Pen invited his voters “not to choose between the destroyers from above and the destroyers from below”.
