Absolute, relative majority, cohabitation… The outcomes of the legislative elections of June 30 and July 7 are multiple.
What will the National Assembly look like on July 8, after the legislative elections? For one of the three blocs to obtain an absolute majority, it must win at least 289 seats. In the event of a victory for the presidential camp, Gabriel Attal could be reappointed. Otherwise, a new Prime Minister will be appointed, forcing Emmanuel Macron to cohabitation.
The other hypothesis is that of the relative majority, if one of the coalitions obtains around 230 deputies. This was the situation of the National Assembly until the dissolution. The majority cannot govern alone and must find suitable alliances, which are difficult to conclude. In a third scenario, no majority emerges and the different blocs are equal in the Assembly. In this case, it is paralysis and governing becomes almost impossible. Whatever the hypothesis, the situation will last at least a year, because the President of the Republic will not be able to dissolve it again before this deadline.
