what are the new restrictions?

The drought intensifies in Creuse. The prefecture therefore decided on Tuesday August 2 to put our department in a “crisis” situation. It’s about maximum level water use restrictions. Our rivers continue to decline and forecast rainfall the next few days should not allow the trend to be reversed. France Bleu Creuse offers you a decryption of the new rules regarding the use of water.

Crop irrigation prohibited (or almost)

They are mainly professionals who are going to have to change their watering habits. Indeed, barring derogation, farmers now have ban on irrigating crops at any hour of the day and night.

Nurseries and orchards are an exception. They can still irrigate, but only from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.and only with a typical water-saving device drip. They are also limited to five cubic meters of water per day. Irrigation of sports grounds also becomes prohibited, including at night, except on golf courses.

Little change for individuals

Despite tighter restrictions, individuals can continue to water their vegetable garden at nightfrom 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

On the other hand, the prohibitions taken previously remain in force. We still don’t have the right :

  • To water the vegetable garden during the hottest hours.
  • To water lawns and flowers at any time.
  • To wash vehicles.
  • To wash the sidewalks, terraces and balconies with water.
  • To fill swimming pools and bodies of water.

Fireworks authorized on a case-by-case basis

The Creuse prefecture will also regulate more strictly fireworks because they can help fire outbreaks when the vegetation is also dry. They will be allowed case by case, depending on where they will be shot and depending on the weather conditions. For example, that of the Bridiers fresco could take place since security conditions are met.
