what are the exact portfolios of the two ministries?

Ministry of Ecological Transition, Ministry of Energy Transition, what demarcation? The attributions and outline of the policy of each ministry have been published in the Official newspaper Thursday, June 2. Amélie de Montchalin, Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion, and Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Energy Transition, share the attributions of two ex-ministers: Barbara Pompili, who was in the Ecological Transition, and Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, formerly in transport.

To the Energy TransitionAgnès Pannier-Runacher defines and implements “energy policy in order, in particular, to ensure security of supply and access to energy, to combat climate change and to promote energy transition”. In detail, she “prepares and implements the policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions” and “promotes sustainable management of scarce mineral resources”.

Agnes Pannier-Runacher will also be “competent” in the development of sustainable energies and the construction of new nuclear reactors. She will finally manage the “decarbonization and electrification of the road transport sector, in particular, conversion of the car fleet and development of infrastructure for charging electric vehicles”.

For her part, Amélie de Montchalin, at the Ecological Transition, inherits in particular the questions of sustainable development, the protection of biodiversity, planning and the fight against urban sprawl.

She gains new responsibilities, such as the management of Questions quality of housing, energy efficiency and the fight against substandard housing, themes that were previously managed by the Ministry of Housing. The building renovation and energy performance policy still straddles the two ministries.

Together, the two ministers will share questions from change climate, air quality and technical vehicle regulations.
