“How do you do a slam? You take the buddy, you carry it, and there we go!” The slam is this practice during parties or festivals which consists of lifting someone above the crowd. And at Hellfest, it’s a real tradition.

“The thing about slam is that it’s the people who decide where you’re going to get, how long it’s going to take to get there… They’re going to carry you and you end up in the arms of the guard. ”

The first slam is said to have appeared in 1964, during a Rolling Stones concert in Amsterdam. It would then have been popularized in the 70s by artists like Iggy Pop.

“You feel like you’re a little bit unique you see because at one point there’s you above the crowd and that’s how it works.” At Hellfest, the slam has almost become a tradition for festival-goers.

“It’s the best thing on Earth that exists! It’s awesome ! It’s crazy!” comments a young man.

“When you do a slam, you have a great view of the whole crowd and the stage. I advise everyone to do slams. You feel carried by everyone, it’s super soft, it’s super quiet.
