While the war in Ukraine took a new turn with the massive offensive of the Russians in the East, the West decided, Tuesday, April 19, to intensify their shipment of weapons. What President Zelensky had been asking for for weeks.
Westerners will deliver fighter planes to Ukraine, reports, Wednesday, April 20, journalist Matthieu Boisseau, special envoy to kyiv (Ukraine), who notes “conflicting information” on “exact nature” help. On Tuesday 19 April, the United States indeed claimed that Ukraine had “received new aircraft and spare parts”without specifying the number or the name of the donor countries.
On the morning of April 20, the Ukrainian Air Force said that it had received no new aircraft, only spare parts. “Is this a denial, a misunderstanding or a strategy to conceal Western support? Hard to say”, notes the journalist. The spare parts will anyway help repair damaged planes, and increase the capabilities of the Ukrainian Air Force, says Matthew Boisseau.
