Wellington Street voted the coolest street in the world

Wellington Street, in Verdun, came out on top of the coolest cities in the world, according to a poll carried out by the magazine Time Out with 20,000 urban experts.

Restaurants, entertainment, culture and community were among the criteria taken into account to establish this annual ranking which counts 33 streets across the planet.

“Wellington Street continues to reinvent itself and Montrealers are there,” said Laura Osborne, publisher at Time Out Canada.

1.3 km long, Promenade Wellington became pedestrianized last June for the entire summer. It has a number of trendy restaurants, bars, cafes, terraces and family snack bars that make it a vibrant and lively street.

Gertrude Street in Melbourne, Australia came in second place, followed by Great Western Road in Glasgow, Scotland.
